PO-START

💡 Why PO-START for your chicks

🧬
20% protein — the highest in the range
Chicks grow at lightning speed in the first 3 weeks. Every gram of protein counts for building muscle mass, the immune system, and the skeleton.
🧠
Omega-3 for neurological development
Flaxseeds provide the essential fatty acids for chick nervous system development. A chick with a strong neurological start will be a better layer.
🦴
Calcium at 1% — protects young kidneys
A chick doesn't need much calcium. Too early, it overloads the kidneys and causes permanent damage. PO-START is calibrated to exactly the right level.
🌱
Agronomic note
The first 3 weeks determine 60% of a pullet's lifetime performance. PO-START offers the maximum protein density in the range (20%), combined with complete immune support. Flaxseeds enrich the neurological development of chicks. Do not replace PO-START with any other formula before 3 complete weeks.
Phase 2 · 3 to 14 weeks

PO-YOUTH

💡 Why PO-YOUTH for your pullets

🐔
The only formula recommended for your rooster
PO-YOUTH is ideal for roosters in mixed flocks: 18% protein to maintain vigour, and only 1% calcium — far from the dangerous level of layer feeds that can cause permanent kidney damage in males.
🦴
Optimal bone development
Barley adds natural fibre that improves gut health and slightly slows digestion — allowing better absorption of minerals essential for skeletal development.
⚖️
Natural transition from PO-START
The drop from 20% to 18% protein is gradual and consistent with declining rapid-growth needs. Your pullets won't notice a difference — except for the better.
🌱
Agronomic note
From 3 to 14 weeks, the pullet builds her skeleton, reproductive organs, and feathers. PO-YOUTH offers the optimal protein/energy balance for regular growth without overfeeding. It's also the recommended formula for roosters in mixed flocks — the only one in the range that's safe for males long-term.
Phase 3 · 14 to 18 weeks

PO-PRELAY

💡 Why PO-PRELAY is essential

🔄
The transition that prepares the ovaries
Going straight from PO-YOUTH (1% calcium) to a layer feed (4%+) is a physiological shock for the pullet. PO-PRELAY at 2% calcium is the natural bridge — the reproductive organs adapt gradually.
🌽
Coarse corn grain for digestion
At this stage, the pullet develops her gizzard and adult digestive system. Coarse corn grain rather than finely ground stimulates this development naturally.
📅
Don't skip this step
Many keepers go straight from growth feed to layer feed. This is the most often skipped phase — and the one that causes the most disappointing first eggs and soft shells.
🌱
Agronomic note
The pre-lay period is often ignored, to the pullet's detriment. PO-PRELAY prepares the reproductive system with an intermediate calcium (2%) that allows a gentle adaptation. Coarse corn stimulates gizzard development. The four weeks of this phase translate directly into better first eggs and stronger shells from the start.

PO-WINTER

💡 Why PO-WINTER keeps your hens laying in winter

🌡️
Compensates for energy lost to cold
Below 10°C, a hen expends metabolic energy to maintain her 41°C body temperature. PO-WINTER has the highest protein (18%) of the laying formulas to compensate for this — and maintain egg production.
🥚
Solid shells even in deep cold
Calcium at 4.25% — the highest in the range — ensures dense shells even when hens drink less water. The calcite grit in the formula improves calcium retention overnight, when the shell is being formed.
🌿
More flaxseeds than in summer
Omega-3 has an anti-inflammatory role and supports the immune system in winter. PO-WINTER contains more than PO-SUMMER — your hens maintain their natural defenses during the tough months.
❄️
Agronomic note — Hiver québécois
A layer that doesn't have enough energy in winter redirects her resources to thermoregulation, at the expense of laying. PO-WINTER offers the maximum protein of the laying formulas (18%) and the highest calcium (4.25%) to maintain stable production from October to April. Switch to PO-SUMMER once temperatures consistently stay above 10°C.

PO-SUMMER

💡 Why PO-SUMMER is designed for the heat

🌡️
Adapted to heat stress
When it's hot, hens eat less but drink much more. PO-SUMMER is formulated with an adapted nutrient density — hens get what they need even with a reduced appetite. No waste, no deficiency.
🥚
Calcium 4.20% — slightly adjusted for summer
In summer, hens produce more CO2 to cool down — which slightly affects calcium balance. PO-SUMMER is calibrated at 4.20% (vs 4.25% in winter) to adapt to this physiological reality and maintain solid shells.
🌿
Barley and peas for cool digestion
Barley and peas produce less digestive heat than corn alone. PO-SUMMER optimizes these proportions so your hens stay comfortable even on the hottest days — and keep laying.
☀️
Agronomic note — Été québécois
Heat stress is one of the main causes of summer production drops. PO-SUMMER meets this challenge with a 16% protein formula (adapted to reduced intake), slightly adjusted calcium at 4.20%, and a grain combination that generates less digestive heat. Switch to PO-WINTER in October or when nights consistently drop below 10°C.
